About the Role

Our client is a new premium beauty and cosmetics retailer launching in Syria, importing much of its range from the United States and building a brand around product quality that the local market currently lacks. This is the first technical hire. You will build the company's online store from the ground up on a modern open-source stack, run it in production, and help shape the wider technical setup as the business grows into multiple branches. You will work directly with the CTO, with real ownership of architecture and delivery decisions. Success in the first six months means a live, stable store handling real orders and payments, with a foundation clean enough to extend rather than rebuild.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and launch the company's e-commerce storefront and backend on a headless open-source platform (Medusa.js or similar), with a React / Next.js front end
• Own deployment, hosting, monitoring and day-to-day operation of the platform, keeping it available and secure
• Integrate payment and delivery providers that work within the Syrian market, and adapt as those options change
• Design the data model and architecture so the platform can support additional branches, product lines and channels without a rewrite
• Build a bilingual Arabic / English storefront with correct right-to-left layout and behaviour
• Contribute to the selection and integration of point-of-sale and ERP systems as the retail operation expands
• Use AI development tools to work faster, while remaining accountable for code quality, security and maintainability
• Work directly with the CTO on priorities, technical decisions and release planning

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years professional experience building and shipping web applications
• JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, Next.js
• PostgreSQL, SQL, REST API, GraphQL
• Production deployment and operations: Linux server or cloud hosting, Docker, domains, SSL, backups, monitoring
• Git, version control and standard code review workflows
• Arabic native or fluent; English sufficient for technical discussion and documentation
• Resident in Syria, with a reliable internet connection and a power backup arrangement that supports consistent full-time remote work

Preferred Qualifications

• E-commerce platform experience: Medusa.js, Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento
• Payment gateway or delivery / logistics integration
• Arabic right-to-left (RTL) interface development
• Regular use of AI coding tools in day-to-day development work
